Custom Bridge Cranes
Toronto Electric designs and builds custom bridge cranes to be installed in industrial settings for lifting and moving heavy materials between locations reliably, precisely, and easily. The equipment uses a hoist that travels along a bridge along two parallel runways, and we design, build, and install custom lifting solutions. Our custom bridge cranes are built with the needed versatility to accommodate certain limitations, spaces, and industries.

We are a distributor of premium electric motors and are specialists in custom material handling applications. If you require a custom solution, we can work with you to engineer a unique solution to your custom bridge crane needs. At Toronto Electric, we guide you to choose the right bridge crane for any type of application by focusing on specific variables like space, weight requirements, power requirements, and installation.

Custom bridge cranes eliminate manual lifting for not only physical convenience but for time and operational efficacy. Our bridge cranes support or replace the need for multiple jib cranes and forklifts and fast-track any process. Bridge cranes allow lifting larger loads faster and more flexibly. Building your own custom bridge crane reduces obstructions to your floor, increases floor space, operates at higher speeds, carries heavier loads, and is safer than forklifts. Toronto Electric’s team of professionally skilled engineers use their experience to provide services such as pre-installation compliance, custom solutions engineering, professional installation, and in-house repairs.

Top-Running Bridge Cranes

Capacities up to 20 Ton – Spans up to 70 ft
Top-running bridge cranes are mounted on the top-running rails of the runways for maximum headroom and a higher under-hook lift. The convenience of our custom top-running overhead bridge cranes doesn’t have a limiting capacity, making them suitable for either small or large capacity loads. This type of overhead crane is supported by the building’s structure or runway support columns, which make it ideal for saving large amounts of space and moving heavier loads. Long bridge spans benefit from a top-running crane configuration as it has a greater hook height to give users more headroom for lifts. As top-running cranes have extra support from their structure, this configuration can be used for all capacity lift, especially extremely heavy loads, while having easier installation, future maintenance, and are less time-consuming than an under-hung crane.

Under-Running Bridge Cranes

Capacities up to 20 ton – Spans up to 70 ft
Under-running bridge cranes are suspended from the lower flange of the runways to provide more flexibility in hook approach. If your building’s structure can support the crane, under-hung cranes don’t require column support as they’re normally connected to the structured itself. This allows the area below to be unobstructed, making it an ideal option for facilities with limited floor space. Without the need for support columns, this type of configuration allows for more crane service area coverage. The work area below the crane is completely unobstructed by columns which are advantageous in facilities with limited floor space or complex processes. Under-hung crane configurations typically have a short hook height which should be considered in your custom crane configuration priorities. Under-hung cranes normally require a single girder design for lighter service and lower-capacity applications and a double girder for heavier capacities or more hook height.

Double-Girder Bridge Cranes

Capacities up to 25 ton – Spans up to 70 ft
The double-girder bridge consists of two beams mounted on the top-running rails of the runways to accommodate heavier load capacities and longer spans. Better hook height is common to double-girder cranes, typically with an added 18-26 inches. The hoist of double-girder bridge cranes is placed between the cross girders, not under, to provide more lift. Facilities gain the depth of the cross girder as well the increased hook height. Our custom double-girder bridge cranes are suitable for applications exceeding 20 tons and we recommend their ability to meet special lift and height requirements.

Boxed Girder Bridge Cranes

Capacities up to 60 ton – Spans up to 100 ft
The double girder bridge consists of two boxed beams mounted on the top-running rails of the runways for heavier load capacities and longer spans. The use of a “box” configuration has a running surface plate for the hoist trolley attached beneath the box. The box girder has greater loading capacities and a wider span of bridge distances. This configuration is usually paired with the hoisting mechanism operating on the rails attached atop each box girder.
